Interested?I am a trauma-informed, neuro-affirming perinatal counsellor and coach, and I work with neurodivergent mothers — ADHD, autistic, or both — through pregnancy, birth trauma, the profound shift of becoming a mother, and the early years that follow.
Much of my work sits with women who have spent a lifetime sensing they are somehow too much, or not enough, without ever being given the language for why. I am AuDHD myself, diagnosed as an adult, and a mother of three, including twins. I know what it is to move through birth and early motherhood in a nervous system that feels everything more intensely than most — and to do it far from home. My own experience of birth trauma and burnout is not incidental to this work. It is the reason I do it.
My training is both clinical and practical. I completed my counselling degree in the Netherlands, and I am also a certified doula. So I understand not only the emotional landscape of the perinatal period, but the physiological reality of the birth room, and how clinical environments can land on a body that processes the world differently or carries previous trauma.
My understanding of this is personal as well as professional. I am Portuguese, but I built my adult life abroad — thirteen years in the UK, a year in Canada, five in the Netherlands, and now Málaga. My twins' pregnancy was followed by the NHS; my youngest's in Canada. Both times, I flew home to Portugal to give birth — the first a traumatic birth, the second a healing one. I know maternity care from the inside across several systems, and I know the particular weight of carrying a pregnancy far from family — including the strange ache of returning to your own home country and finding it no longer feels entirely like home.
My work is to offer a gentle, expert, and unhurried space — to process birth trauma, to think through the realities of ADHD and autism in pregnancy and beyond, and to feel a little more grounded in your own story. It is also there for the harder, quieter work that comes with it: burnout, and the grief of naming things late — a diagnosis of your own, a diagnosis for your child, or the slow letting go of the mother you thought you would be. I work online with women across the world, with birth preparation and doula support offered in person in Málaga.

Healing from Birth Trauma & Anxiety
"In the months leading up to the birth, Tania helped us prepare and learn… more importantly, she helped us deal with past trauma and anxiety. My partner went from being terrified of labor to being super confident and active throughout. She helped me work through my birth trauma, which was essential to a healthy closure." — Anastasia R. & Sofia N.
Navigating Birth as an Expat
"Having a doula to guide me through my first pregnancy was a total must for me as I was having a child in Spain (not my home country). I was very confused about the medical system here, and Tania was the best choice I made for myself. Her wisdom, dedication, and maturity gave me the calmness I needed most." — Heliise H.
Advocacy & Physiological Expertise
"Tania is an active listener who truly came through by supporting my fear and trauma of birth. She advocated for me when I didn't know how to do it myself—helping us make difficult decisions and suggest alternatives to hospital staff that protected our birth wishes. I felt safer with her than with the midwives." — Sofia N. & Veronika E.
Agency & Sovereignty (Reclaiming the Birth Experience)
"Tania helped me tune into my strengths and draw a path to a more positive birth than my first. Through long talks and relaxation techniques, she prepared us for an amazing experience where I truly felt in control and sovereign. She will forever be special to our family." — Kathleen & Ana Cristina L.

Professional Experience
I provide specialist counselling and support for neurodivergent and expat mothers through the perinatal period. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and in helping women feel they have a say again after a difficult birth.
- Birth trauma recovery — using the 3 Steps Rewind process and my training with TBR College, I support women to process birth trauma and perinatal anxiety, and to move from a state of constant alertness towards something steadier.
- Neuro-affirming support — drawing on my Supporting Neurodiverse Birth training (Neurodivergent Birth UK), I help families create birth and postpartum plans that honour ADHD and autistic ways of being, with attention to sensory safety and executive function.
- Cross-cultural perinatal navigation — having supported families across the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain, I help expat mothers navigate unfamiliar healthcare systems while carrying the mental load of parenting far from home.
- Practical birth knowledge — with a foundation in doula training, I bring a grounded understanding of how birth unfolds, so women can move through clinical settings with more confidence and less fear.
